Over the last few days, our PC review of Tiger Woods 12: The Masters garnered massive attention with headlines spreading across the internet. Sites such as Rock Paper Shotgun, GiantBomb and Voodoo Extreme among others were quick to pick up the review and send a message to their readers cautioning them to avoid this latest PC release.
Electronic Arts has finally responded to my inquiries about the scandal by issuing this statement:
“Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 12: The Masters for PC/Mac is a unique experience that combines some of the best single-player game modes of the console version with the accessibility and multiplayer offerings of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Online. We address each customer service inquiry on a case-by-case basis and customer satisfaction is our top priority.”
That is it. I was told no further comments will be issued. Part of me is still shocked EA would try to pull something like this. They take a Free-to-Play title, put it on a DVD, sell it for 40 dollars all the while blatantly misrepresenting their product and this is the best they can come up with. It is my belief they did not count on all of you to cry out in disgust at this ridiculous turn of events. At the very least, they are offering refunds.
Hopefully EA has learned a lesson from all of this.
